ZTE Unveils Axon 9 Pro Flagship at IFA 2018

Today along with many other companies at IFA 2018, ZTE has unveiled a new smartphone called the Axon 9 Pro. It’s supposed to be the company’s new flagship offering for 2018 and succeeds the Axon 7 from 2016. For whatever reason, ZTE didn’t exactly come out with a flagship last year besides the somewhat disappointing Axon M. Therefore, think of this phone as sort of a bounce-back opportunity for the company.

The Axon 9 Pro features a glass body much like all other flagship Android phones nowadays along with a notch in its 6.21-inch AMOLED 2248×1080 display. Inside, the phone features a Snapdragon 845 processor, 6GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, and near-stock Android 8.1 Oreo. The device also opts for stereo speakers, a 4,000mAh battery, no headphone jack, a USB-C port, a rear-mounted fingerprint reader, and a dual camera system on the back comprised of 12MP and 20MP lenses. The front has a 20MP lens built into it for selfies.

All in all, the phone looks pretty nice on paper and could even prove to be a good buy. It’ll launch in Europe this September for €649. Unfortunately, it isn’t coming to the United States.
