Motorola has begun rolling out the official Android 8.0 Oreo upgrade to 2016’s unlocked Moto Z. The update has formally been confirmed by Motorola and is being received by multiple users over the air.
Here are Motorola’s official release notes for the update.
This update introduces changes including the following:
- Android™ 8.0 Oreo™ : many enhancements including new multitasking features, more efficient notification controls and improved data saver and battery features.
- Android security: includes the updates of Android security patches until 1 March 2018.
- Stability improvements: includes changes that fix bugs and improve the stability of your phone.
While most users should see a notification prompting them to install the update in the coming days, you can also manually check to see if the update is ready by heading to Settings > About phone > System updates. There, you should see the Oreo update for the Moto Z ready to install. Tap download and let the process finish. We recommend jumping on Wi-Fi and plugging in your phone to avoid any interruptions.
