Spanish manufactorer Funker has released a new Windows 10 smartphone called the W5.5 Pro, with it’s name referring to it’s 5.5 inch screen, however it seems the “Pro” part of the name is kind of out of place.
Here’s a brief rundown of the specs:
- 5.5″ 720p display
- 12MP Rear camera (w/ flash)
- 5MP Front camera
- Qualcomm MSM8916 1.2 GHz Quad Core CPU
- 2GB of RAM
- Windows 10
As you can tell, this isn’t really a “Professional” device, and therefore is kind of misnamed. However, I’m not gonna make a harsh judgement about the phone, because if you look at the Moto E (2015) spec sheet, it’s even worse, but it runs beautifully. I”m just saying it’s not something I’d call “Pro”. I’d rather call it a low-end handset, however with it’s price tag, it’s more midrange.
You see, Funker has decided that charging €240 ($260) for this thing is good, but it’s not. If the price were, say, $179 or something, that’d be much better. They’d immediately sell out. But they’re not, and until/if they lower the tag, there’s nothing we can do about it.
This phone’s perfect for someone who wants to try out Windows 10 on a nice and big display but doesn’t wanna spend $600 on a Lumia. This makes for a great alternative, however if you can’t afford $260, there’s plenty of other options. Well, maybe…
