The Lenovo Z5 Will Take the ‘Bezel-Less’ Trend Seriously

Lenovo has begun teasing its upcoming smartphone called the Z5 that’s said to arrive with basically no bezels whatsoever. In two new images that surfaced over on Weibo thanks to Lenovo’s VP Chang Cheng, the phone is clearly visible with an extremely small border surrounding its display. It isn’t clear how Lenovo is achieving this, but it’s assumed a great foot of engineering went into the design and component layout.

According to Cheng, the Z5 will apparently ship with an incredible 95 percent screen-to-body ratio. It’ll use a total of 18 different patented technologies and include four “technological breakthroughs.” We have no idea what any of this specifically means, but we’ll likely learn sooner than later.

Of course, with an all-screen smartphone (with seemingly no notch) comes questions surrounding where certain elements of the device that are normally housed within bezels are found. The fingerprint sensor likely isn’t a problem – it can be placed either under the display or around the back – but things like the front-facing camera, ambient light sensor, and earpiece for phone calls all need to go somewhere. For now, we’re left with a ton of questions and not a lot of answers. This is one we’ll need to wait out to see what happens.

We don’t have any type of release date for the Lenovo Z5 yet, but we’ll let you know when we know more.
