Spotify has begun rolling out an update to its iPad app that finally adds support for multitasking. As spotted by multiple users already, the new update allows you to open Spotify in Split View or Slide Over. You could already do this with the streaming service’s biggest competitor, Apple Music.
Here are some screenshots I took to demo the feature. It works the same way any app you open in Split View or Slide Over does.
If you’d like to see if you have Split View and Slide Over support in Spotify on your iPad, tap the gear icon in the top right-hand corner of Spotify and select “About.” From there, check to see if your version number is 8.5.14.816. If it is, that means you have these features. If not, you might wanna take a trip to the App Store.
