SoundCloud Introduces “Go” Subscription Service for $10/Month

SoundCloud has practically always been somewhere music lovers can go to find the latest new music by artists not yet found on FM radio while also being the central location to share your own sounds, music, and more. Now, the sharing platform has introduced a new subscription service dubbed “SoundCloud Go” which will charge customers $10 a month and grant them special features not currently found in the now free version of SoundCloud. These features are as follows:

  • Play all tracks: Access a newly expanded catalog of everything from Grammy-winners to garage bands
  •  Listen offline: Listen to your favorite tracks anytime, anywhere, with or without signal
  • Go ad-free: Listen without any ad interruptions

The best way I can describe SoundCloud Go would be if Spotify and SoundCloud had a baby, this would be the outcome. The streaming service has the same price and offline/ad-free listening experience as Spotify but has the same discovery tools and features of SoundCloud. And with Go, users will be able to discover new music from popular artists signed to Sony Music Entertainment, Universal Music Group and Warner Music Group as these are the labels the service has signed an agreement with. In the future, more labels will no doubt reach agreement with SoundCloud to distribute more music.

SoundCloud is no doubt new to the premium service market, as they’ve offered a service called Pro Unlimited for creators to use different tools for uploading and sharing media at a price of $15 a month. They also offer a more low key version of Pro Unlimited simply called Pro for $7 a month with slightly less features. If you happen to be a Pro Unlimited subscriber, however, you’ll get $5 off each month for SoundCloud Go for the first six. After that, you’ll be back at the same $10 a month everyone else pays. Oh yeah, and the free version of SoundCloud will remain the same with no features or tools coming or going.

SoundCloud Go is available in version 4.0.0 of their official mobile app, which can be downloaded for Android here and iOS here.
