Sony Details Which Phones Are Getting Android Pie Upgrades

The same week as Motorola releases its list, Sony has unveiled which of its Xperia smartphones will be upgraded to Android Pie. This comes over a week after Android 9 was released to Pixel devices and other phones in the Android beta program.

In a blog post, Sony notes the Xperia XZ2, XZ2 Premium, XZ2 Compact, XZ Premium, XZ1, and XZ1 Compact will all receive Android Pie upgrades this November. Meanwhile, the XA2, XA2 Ultra, and XA2 Plus will receive the new software in early 2019. The company says it aims “for the quickest possible upgrade rollout from the time Google makes its announcement to when it reaches your smartphone.” Therefore, you can likely expect the software to be released in the timeframes Sony mentions.

Sony also created an infographic that educates you on how new software upgrades are handled at the company. You can view it in the company’s blog post here.
