Today during an event, Samsung took the wraps off its new Galaxy A80 smartphone, a device that definitely falls in the category of “futuristic designs.”
What do I mean by that? The fact that it has a sliding mechanism to reveal the selfie cameras. But these aren’t separate selfie shooters from what’s found on the back. Rather, instead of having two sets of cameras on the Galaxy A80, Samsung implemented a rotating element that spins the rear cameras to the front, giving you much higher quality selfies as a result. Notably, the spin occurs while the slider is active, giving off futuristic vibes left and right.
Speaking of cameras, the Galaxy A80 sports a main 48MP f/2.0 sensor, an ultra-wide 8MP f/2.2 sensor, and a 3D depth sensor for Live Focus portrait shots. You also get Super Steady video, an intelligent Scene Optimizer, and Flaw Detection.
In terms of specs, the Galaxy A80 has a 6.7-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED display that’s completely notch-less. It, therefore, goes edge-to-edge with ease, giving life to Samsung’s New Infinity panel it’s been hyping up. Inside, you’ll find an octa-core 2.2GHz processor, 8GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, a 3,700mAh battery with 25W fast charging, Android Pie, and an in-display fingerprint reader.
According to Samsung, the Galaxy A80 will be available in black, silver, and gold. It’ll start shipping on May 29th for an unspecified price.
