Samsung Announces Feb. 21 Galaxy Unpacked Event to Unveil Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge

Samsung has officially announced today that they’ll be holding a special event during Mobile World Congress 2016 in Barcelona, Spain on February 21st to most likely unveil their upcoming Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge 2016 flagship smartphones. This comes just a few days after new renders of the upcoming handsets leaked online.

The event is set to start at 10 AM PST/1 PM EST and can be streamed live on the company’s YouTube channel. Interestingly enough, the announcement came in a video presented at the specified event streaming location above which shows a person putting on a Gear VR headset and reaching out for a cube with highlighted corners that form a seven. This could be an indication that new VR gear is on the way as well as the new smartphones which have been highly rumored for quite some time now. However, this type of tech hasn’t been in any recent reports, and therefore is highly unlikely to show up at the keynote.

We know quite a lot about the new Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge specs already, according to multiple recent reports and leaks. The new handsets are set to feature a Snapdragon 820 or Exynos 8890 processor depending which market you’re in, 4GB of RAM, and a 12MP camera powered by Samsung’s new BRITECELL sensor.
