Register for Google Duo Here

Google’s new video calling app Duo is now available on the Play Store for pre-registration. This comes just three days after the company made Duo’s companion app Allo, a smart messaging app with Google’s Assistant built-in, available for pre-registrations.

Here’s a snippet of what Duo is from my full Google I/O 2016 report:

Duo is a video calling app similar to FaceTime but works cross-platform and is built for simple and quick video calls. Nothing fancy. Just video calls.

When opened, Duo will automatically switch on your front camera and display your contacts. By using your phone number, you can make and receive video calls from anyone who also has the app whether they are on iOS or Android. A special Knock Knock feature allows anyone who is receiving a call view what the person is currently doing so more spontaneous calls are possible.

Both Allo and Duo will be available this summer on iOS and Android.
