OnePlus may have just launched the OnePlus 6 earlier this year, but that’s not stopping the company from following its recent trend of introducing new T-branded, upgraded versions of its flagships. This year, we’re expecting the OnePlus 6T to make its way to the market, and a previous report out of CNET indicates it may even land on T-Mobile for around $550. Now, new images of the device’s box have popped up on the web and we’re getting our first “official” look at its design.
As you can see above, the OnePlus 6T looks to arrive with a much smaller notch than what’s on the standard OnePlus 6. In fact, it looks like the phone will come with the same waterdrop-style cutout as the Oppo F9 and will likely cram an earpiece and other sensors within the frame of the phone. Meanwhile, the selfie shooter will live within the notch itself.
Interestingly, the images also seem to hint that the 6T will come with an in-display fingerprint reader. We saw this with other Oppo phones in the past so it isn’t exactly surprising to see the technology reach a OnePlus phone. In the same breath, considering how low the company prices its phones when compared to the competition, it’s kind of crazy to see them use the technology before major players such as Samsung or LG. Of course, we could be wrong and OnePlus may place the sensor somewhere else on the phone, but at least according to these images, it looks like you may be scanning your thumbprint right on your screen.
Not much else is known about the OnePlus 6T at the time. Of course, if we hear anything else about the phone, we’ll let you know.
