OnePlus has officially released the first Android 10 beta for the OnePlus 6 and 6T. Previously, the company seeded early betas that were known as Android Q. Now that version 10 of the OS has begun shipping on a number of phones, the company has had time to get the first beta of the new software ready for its 2018 flagships.
OnePlus listed all the perks of the first Android 10-based OxygenOS build for the 6 and 6T in a blog post.

- Upgraded to Android 10
- Brand new UI design
- Enhanced location permissions for privacy
- New customization feature in Settings allowing you to choose icon shapes to be displayed in the Quick Settings
- Full Screen Gestures
- Added inward swipes from the left or right edge of the screen to go back
- Added a bottom navigation bar to allow switching left or right for recent apps
- Game Space
- New Game Space feature now joins all your favorite games in one place for easier access and better gaming experience
- Smart display
- Intelligent info based on specific times, locations and events for Ambient Display (Settings – Display – Ambient Display – Smart Display)
- Message
- Now possible to block spam by keywords for Message (Messages – Spam – Settings -Blocking settings)
Notably, this new beta is shipping by ways of the company’s Open Beta program. If your phone is already enrolled in the program, chances are you’ll get the updated software over the air.
Since this is a beta, expect to see at least a few glitches and bugs. You also won’t be able to pay for anything using Google Pay until Android 10 for the OnePlus 6 and 6T is out of beta. Other than these quirks, you’ll probably be alright installing the new beta on your main device. I’ve been using it for a little while and it seems stable enough to rely upon for daily operation.
