Back in September, Nintendo unveiled their new mobile game called Super Mario Run, a running-based title featuring everyone’s favorite Italian plumber. While details remained scarce at the time other than it would launch on iOS by the 2016 holiday season, we now have further details about when exactly the game will be available to play and how much it’ll cost to unlock all the game’s benefits…
For starters, Super Mario Run will launch exactly one month from today, on December 15th. Players will be able to download the title completely free, while trials of the three levels present in the game will be available in order to lure in users. If you happen to like the game and want to unlock all of its benefits, Nintendo will be offering a one-time fee of $9.99 which will grant users access to the entire game. Sure, this price seems a bit steep for just a silly iPhone app, but I’d think of it this way: how much have you spent on in-app purchases in the past month or so? More than $9.99? If so, you really shouldn’t complain about the price of this game. Otherwise, go protest. You have free will.
iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch users will all have access to Super Mario Run as long as their device is running iOS 8.0 or higher. 151 countries will see the app launch on December 15th, while these languages will be supported: English, Japanese, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Dutch, Russian and traditional Chinese. Currently, there’s no word on when the game will launch on Android, but we shouldn’t have much longer to wait.
