Microsoft is Reportedly Working on Surface-Branded AirPods

Alongside Amazon, Microsoft is the latest company to be rumored to be working on Apple AirPods competitors. According to a report out of Thurrott, Microsoft is developing a set of wireless buds under the code name “Morrison.” The buds might come out in 2019, but a release date hasn’t been confirmed just yet.

This won’t be the first time Microsoft has released headphones. Last year, the company surprised everyone with the release of the Surface Headphones, $349 over-ear-style cans that came with Cortana integration, touch controls, mechanical knobs, and more. They were a pretty big hit among reviewers thanks to their sound quality and ease of use. Now, Microsoft will apply many of the same principals to a pair of ear buds which will likely share a good chunk of the same features.

It’s unclear how much the new buds will cost, but Apple sells the AirPods for $159. Therefore, you can probably expect a price on the so-called Surface Buds around that territory.
