Meizu, a Chinese smartphone manufacturer, has announced a brand new handset called the M3 Note. This phone features specs you’d find in a full fledged flagship handset however priced very differently.
The M3 Note features a 5.5-inch 1920×1080 HD display (good for 403 ppi), an octa-core MediaTek Helio P10 processor with eight Cortex-A53 CPU cores split into two clusters with a peak clock speed of 1.8GHz and 1GHz each, either 2GB or 3GB of RAM, 16GB or 32GB of storage which is expandable via microSD card, a 13MP rear camera with PDAF auto-focus alongside a 5MP front camera, a fingerprint scanner which can apparently register a print within 0.2 seconds, Android 5.1 Lollipop, and a beefy 4,100mAh battery which will no doubt get users through at least a full day. Oh, and build quality is great too, with Meizu going for 6000 series aluminum for the body alongside 2.5D front glass.
Typically, a phone like this would normally cost somewhere from around $500 to maybe $800 if specced out. However, Meizu has priced the M3 Note ridiculously low: for 16GB of storage and 2GB of RAM, customers can pick up this phone for CNY 799, or $125, while for 32GB of space and 3GB of RAM, the company will charge you CNY 999, or $155. This is extremely low for a smartphone with specs like this. I know of one company who makes an aluminum phone with similar (or lower) specs as this one and charges over $600 for it. I won’t say any names, but at this particular company, they’ve been Cookin’ Apples for a while…
If you’re interested in picking up the M3 Note, it’ll go on sale first in China on April 11th. Other region availability is unclear at this point, but we’ll let you know if we learn anything else.
