LG has been steamrolling through flagship phones since the beginning of the year. We’ve had the V30S, G7, and V35 surface just in the past six months, and now another new entry in the company’s high-end lineup is gearing up for its debut later this year.
According to Korean news site ETNews (via Phonearena), the LG V40 will launch in early October. The device will debut after the Galaxy Note 9 and before Apple’s next iPhones but launch a tad later than both to avoid getting lost in the media frenzy that will surround both devices. LG has said in the past it’ll introduce phones when it sees fit, so I guess this is just one of those opportunities. A dedicated event will be held sometime in September to introduce the phone.
As previously reported, the V40 will come with five different cameras. The back will house a 20MP sensor, a 16MP sensor, and a 13MP sensor, likely to achieve both wide-angle and lossless zoom photography. Meanwhile, the front will house a dual-camera array to achieve 3D facial recognition, similar to Apple’s Face ID. The OLED screen that will sit on the front of the device will reportedly take up 90+ percent of the surface area thanks to ultra-slim bezels and a notch at the top.
For specs, the V40 will likely feature a Snapdragon 845 and either 4 or 6GB of RAM. We’ll also likely see Android Oreo out of the box alongside a USB-C port, a headphone jack, and wireless charging.
We’re still light on precise details surrounding the V40, but we expect to know more as time progresses.
