LG Introduces 17-inch Gram Laptop and 14-inch 2-in-1 Ahead of CES 2019

Ahead of the CES 2019 in Las Vegas, LG has announced its newest laptops: the LG Gram 17 and the LG Gram 2-in-1. Both will be shown off at LG’s booth during CES where we should learn more about pricing and availability.

The new LG Gram 17 is exactly what it sounds like: it’s an LG Gram laptop with a 17-inch display. In this case, the laptop has a 17-inch 2560×1600 16:10 display in a body you’d typically find associated with a 15.6-inch display, according to LG. The machine weighs a touch under three pounds so it shouldn’t add too much weight to your bag.

Spec-wise, we’re looking at 8th-generation Intel Core processors (up to an i7), Intel UHD Graphics, up to 16GB of RAM, up to 512GB of SSD storage, and a 72Wh battery to achieve up to 19.5-hours of usage on a single charge. That metric seems kind of ambitious so we’ll need to take the laptop for a spin in the real world to see whether it holds up or not.

In addition, the Gram 17 comes with a fingerprint reader for security, a Thunderbolt 3 USB-C port, three standard USB 3.1 port, an HDMI port, a microSD card slot, a headphone jack, and DTS Headphone X support.

Then there’s the LG Gram 2-in-1. This device comes with a 14-inch touchscreen display with a Full HD (1920×1080) resolution. It can be flipped around to enter tablet mode, laptop mode, tent mode, and stand mode. It also comes with a stylus for doodling and writing on the screen.

In terms of specs, we’re looking at a similar package to the Gram 17 with 8th-gen Intel Core processors, up to 16GB of RAM, up to 512GB of storage, and a 72Wh battery (this time rated at 21 hours due to the smaller screen). You also get a standard USB-C port, two USB 3.1 ports, an HDMI connector, a microSD card slot, a headphone jack, a fingerprint reader, and DTS Headphone X support.

Considering both machines offer similar specs, you can expect similar experiences during use. The Gram 17 will retail for $1,699.99, while the Gram 2-in-1 hasn’t received any pricing information just yet. Similarly, neither device has a confirmed ship date so expect to hear more on both models next month.

Matridox will be live from CES 2019 to cover all the announcements you care about. Stay tuned!
