Yesterday, T-Mobile began to roll out Android Marshmallow 6.0 to the LG G4, LG’s 2015 flagship. This comes just a few days after a report came out stating that Marshmallow was only on 1.2% of all Android-powered devices. In theory, this should boost that number as the G4 was a very popular phone when it came out and many people bought it.
Starting February 4, the LG G4 received an update to software Android 6.0 / Software H81120i available via OTA push and pull-down. This mandatory update improves messaging security.
The update requires your phone to be charged at least half way (50%) and have 963MB of space free.
Users have been already reporting that they’ve received the software upgrade, which, interestingly, is only Android 6.0, not 6.0.1 with the new emojis. Also, the update brings January’s security patch to the device, so it looks like users will have to wait a little more for February’s.
For installing, users can either wait for the update to reach them OTA, or they can use the LG Bridge tool to manually flash it.
As the G4 receives Marshmallow, LG is gearing up to unveil the LG G5 on February 21st to kick off MWC 2016. Coincidentally, this is the same date Samsung will be announcing the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge.
