Lenovo’s awesome Droid-slaying AR kit, Star Wars: Jedi Challenges, has received a free update for both iOS and Android users. Backed by overwhelming demand, the app now lets two players battle each other in a new Lightsaber Versus Mode. If you didn’t already feel like a Jedi playing the game when it first came out, you will now.
The way the feature works is simple: both players will need to have a Lenovo Mirage AR headset, Lightsaber Controller, and Tracking Beacon while also being connected to the same Wi-Fi network and having the same version of the Jedi Challenges app installed on their smartphone.
Once all of these resources are acquired, users can enter Lightsaber Versus Mode and battle each other as if they were in a Star Wars film. Players will be guided by visual cues that indicate when and where to guard yourself against your competitor and strike when necessary. Basically, it sounds like the greatest update that will likely ever reach Jedi Challenges.
“Innovating and iterating based on customer feedback is a big part of what makes Lenovo products different and better,” said Jeff Meredith, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Lenovo Consumer PCs and Smart Devices. “One of the most popular fan requests since the launch of Star Wars: Jedi Challenges is to enable 1-on-1 local multiplayer mode for fans to duel one another in lightsaber battles. We’re excited to continue collaborating with Disney to fulfill fans’ wishes by testing the frontiers of augmented reality. The introduction of the Lightsaber Versus Mode is another step in our journey to offering consumers one-of-a-kind, immersive experiences made possible by AR.”
The update will begin rolling out to all owners of a Star Wars: Jedi Challenges AR kit today.
