Lenovo today took the wraps off its latest flagship Yoga laptop, the S940, during CES 2019. The laptop comes after the company debuted its Yoga C930 later last year. With this laptop serving as a successor, there are plenty of upgrades onboard.
For one, the display is surrounded by slimmer bezels. Before, Lenovo’s Yoga line boasted some thick edges. But starting with the S940, that’s all changing. The laptop also uses curved glass around the sides to make the bezels seem slimmer. For reference, the screen measures in at 13.9-inches and comes with either a Full HD or 4K resolution.
Because of the slim bezels, Lenovo had to put its camera tech for Windows Hello somewhere. So instead of making the bezel bigger, the company created a reverse notch design that mimics the same design language we’ve seen on modern smartphones, just sticking out of the top instead of creeping into the display. It’s certainly a look, to say the least. I’m just gonna assume this is a stepping stone to a bezel-free future. Hopefully. Maybe. By God’s grace. Because this design certainly isn’t perfect.
As for specs, the Yoga S940 comes with an 8th-gen Intel Core i7 processor, Intel UHD 620 graphics, up to 16GB of RAM, up to 1TB of SSD storage, front-facing Dolby Atmos speakers, two Thunderbolt 3 USB-C ports, one standard USB-C port, and a metal body. Lenovo says the laptop can last up to 15 hours on a single charge, and to recharge, you get Rapid Charge capabilities right out of the box.
Something cool that Lenovo implemented with its front-facing camera array is eye tracking. So if you wanna move content to another display, all you have to do is glance your eyes at it. The laptop can even detect when you walk away so it knows to dim the screen and put it to sleep.
All of this laptop goodness will go on sale this May for $1,499. We’ll let you know when we get to spend some time with the machine.
