Google has begun to roll out the monthly security update, as promised, to Nexus devices everywhere today. The update’s based on Android 6.0.1, so don’t get your hopes up about any noticeable changes.
According to their January bulletin, Google has fixed 12 security bugs found by their internal teams and other independent security researchers ranging from critical to moderate severity.
If you have a Nexus, you should see the update within the next few days. But if your impatient and worry about your phone’s security, you can download the factory image for your device from these links:
- Nexus 6P
- Nexus 5X
- Nexus 6
- Nexus Player
- Nexus 9 (LTE)
- Nexus 9 (Wi-Fi)
- Nexus 5
- Nexus 7 2013 (Wi-Fi)
- Nexus 7 2013 (Mobile)
For help flashing the image to your device, follow Google’s instructions via this link. As a warning, flashing a factory image to your device will erase any data stored on it, so if you don’t wanna lose everything, we suggest patiently waiting for the OTA update which should come this week to your Nexus.
