Apple has officially announced their next event which is scheduled for March 21st. The event has been rumored for quite some time of being the location where we’ll meet the iPhone SE and 9.7-inch iPad Pro face-to-face, and it looks like this will be true. Mysteriously, the keynote has the tagline “Let us loop you in”, which could mean that Apple is making a big “loop” in bringing back the 4-inch form factor for the iPhone SE as they haven’t had a new 4-inch phone since 2013. The event will take place at 10 am PT/1 pm ET at Apple’s 1 Infinite Loop campus, indicating the event won’t be as big as past events such as last year’s Fall keynote where the iPhone 6s, iPad Pro, and more were unveiled.
At the event, we’re expecting Apple to announce the upcoming 4-inch iPhone SE which is set to feature an A9 processor with an M9 motion co-processor, 2GB of RAM, Touch ID, Apple Pay support, a 12MP camera, Live Photos support, Always-On Siri, 16/64GB storage capacities, and Space Gray, Silver, Gold, and Rose Gold color options. It’s also expected to be priced around $400-$500 off-contract.
We’re also expecting a new iPad which is essentially be a version of the iPad Pro in a 9.7-inch form factor previous iPads have been in for quite some time now. It’s rumored to feature quad stereo speakers, Apple Pencil support, an A9X processor with an M9 motion co-processor, possibly a Smart Connector for connecting such accessories as a Smart Keyboard shrunken down to better suit the change in size, and maybe a 12MP camera with full 4K video support and rear flash which would be new for Apple’s tablet lineup.
New Apple Watch bands are also expected to make their debut at the event including all-new Sport band colors, a space black version of the Milanese Loop, and maybe even new NATO-style nylon straps.
And last but not least, the Cupertino company is also expected to release iOS 9.3, OS X El Capitan 10.11.4, tvOS 9.2, and watchOS 2.2 which have been in beta for quite some time now. iTunes is also rumored to be updated with an enhanced Apple Music experience.
To watch the event, you either need an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 7.0 or later, a Mac with Safari 6.0.5 on OS X 10.8.5 or later, or a Windows 10 PC with Microsoft Edge. Also, if you wanna watch the keynote via your Apple TV, you’ll need a 2nd or 3rd generation model with software version 6.2 or later or a 4th generation model. A channel will automatically show up on your TV a day or two before the event takes place, so don’t worry about downloading any apps or anything because all of that’s taken care of by the good folks at Apple.
