Today, Huawei unveiled its anticipated new smartphone, the Nova 4. The company’s been teasing the device for a little while at this point in order to build hype, and it looks like the rumors and speculation were true.
Shortly after Samsung announced the Galaxy A8s with a similarly-designed screen, Huawei has confirmed the Nova 4 has a hole-punch-style display with room to fit a 25MP selfie shooter. This design alternative to a traditional smartphone notch should help ease the transition to completely bezel-less smartphones and pave the way for cameras and other sensors under the display, similar to what happened to the fingerprint reader.
Aside from this futuristic look, the Nova 4 is a pretty standard Huawei smartphone. It does offer three rear cameras, with a main 48MP sensor, a secondary 16MP shooter, and a 2MP depth sensor. Other than that, there’s a 6.4-inch 2310×1080 IPS LCD display, a Kirin 970 processor, 8GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, microSD card support for adding up to an extra 512GB of space, Android 9.0 Pie, a 3750mAh battery, a rear-mounted fingerprint reader, and fast charging.
According to Huawei, the Nova 4 will retail for 3,399 yuan, or around $490. A cheaper variant will cost 3,099 yuan (about $450) and come with a lower-spec 20MP main camera on the back.
The Nova 4 will launch in China first and later land in Europe and India.
