HTC has launched a new mid-range smartphone in it’s Desire lineup called the Desire 830. This handset’s build is mainly plastic and measure 157.5 x 78.9 x 7.79 mm. Slight curves are found on each corner of the device on the rear which should prove to bring comfort while holding the device.
It’s 5.5-inch display has a 1080p resolution, so it’s not exactly the sharpest display on the planet, however it’s sharp enough to not see individual pixels. Powering this display alongside the rest of the Desire 830 is a 1.5GHz octa-core MediaTek Helio X10 processor alongside 3GB of RAM, so performance shouldn’t be an issue to anyone. 32GB of space is available for storing apps, music, games, movies, and more which is expandable via microSD up to an extra 128GB. For taking pictures and videos, a 13MP camera is present on the rear of the device which features optical image stabilization (OIS) and an f/2.0 aperture. A 4MP shooter can be found on the front of the handset for taking selfies. It also has an f/2.0 aperture.
The Desire 830’s 2800mAh battery should be enough to get one through a full day on a single charge, however this isn’t really the ideal size to get you through two days.
One feature of the Desire 830 will for sure leave HTC 10 users felling really jealous, and that’s stereo front-facing speakers. For whatever reason, HTC decided that these speakers weren’t gonna be featured on the 10 which seriously doesn’t make sense since they are really trying to get their mo-jo back with that smartphone. But now, it looks like the company is playing a little game with us all by bringing them back on the 830. It makes as much sense to me as it does to you.
The Desire 830 will be available for purcahse in Taiwan on May 6th for NT $9,990 (approximately $310 USD). This is a pretty low price for a smartphone with these kind of specifications. An orange or blue trim will also be available as your color options when purchasing through HTC directly alongside a number of Taiwanese carriers and retailers.
