HP Announces Spectre 13 Laptop with Windows 10, Speedy Processor, and 10.4mm Body

HP hasn’t really been the hottest company in the laptop market, however they hope to be at least one of them now that they’ve taken the wraps off of their latest entry: the Spectre 13. But what makes it so special? Well, for one, it’s only 10.4mm thick which is thinner than Apple’s MacBook, plus it doesn’t skimp out on nice specs.

But first design wise, the HP Spectre 13 features CNC machined aluminum for both the lid and keyboard dock to keep the weight nice and light while also remaining plenty stable. The laptop also uses Carbon fiber to make up the rest of the bottom of the build. There’s also two C-shaped hinges to connect the lid to the bottom of the computer. HP also decided to place a new, more minimalist logo on the Spectre which, Slashgear notes, is reserved only for premium laptops, which this obviously is. For reference, this isn’t a fancy touch screen/2-in-1 hybrid – just a really sweet laptop. And that’s the whole goal here. It’s a nice mix of beautiful design, speedy specs, and plenty of durability.

So what about those specs, hmm? For starters, the Spectre 13 packs in a 6th-gen Intel Core i5 or i7 processor which is probably already enough to convince you to make the move to this laptop. However, HP doesn’t stop there. They’ve also loaded in 8GB of RAM, up to 512GB of SSD storage, up to 9 hours of battery life, a 13.3-inch 1080p HD IPS display, a 3.5mm headphone jack, three USB-C ports with two supporting Thunderbolt and all sporting power supply and USB 3.0 so no matter which port you decided to use you’ll be able to charge your computer, and Windows 10.

The new Spectre 13 will run customers at least $1,169 (which is cheaper than Apple’s current MacBook that starts at $1,299) and will be able to preorder starting April 25th. Best Buy stores will begin selling the laptop from $1,249.99 on May 29th.
