Here’s a List of the Moto Phones Getting Android 7.0 Nougat

We knew last week that Motorola would begin rolling out Android 7.0 Nougat in Q4 of 2016 to the Moto Z and G4 families, however the rest of the company’s devices were still in question as little information was shared. Now via a blog post, Moto has announced that a total of 15 different devices from this year and years past will all begin receiving the latest flavor of Android during the same timeframe mentioned above.

Are you ready for the sweetest OS update yet? It’s one that speaks your language (particularly if you speak fluent Emoji), offers the ability to seamlessly switch between apps with just a double-tap, more efficient notification controls and improved battery and data saver features.

We’re happy to confirm Android 7.0 Nougat is on its way to a lot of our smartphones, we’ll be starting in Q4 with Moto Z and Moto G (4th Gen).

Unfortunately, no Moto E model (not even the recently launched Moto E3) will be receiving Android 7.0 in addition to the 2015 Moto G. Why Moto made this decision is beyond me, but it’s nevertheless disappointing for a lot of people as the E series has always been popular alongside the 2015 G.

It’s worth noting that the Amazon variant of the G4 isn’t listed here. While it’s highly unlikely that this model won’t get Nougat, keep in mind that a delay behind the standard G4 is probably in the cards for this device since it’s a special edition. I can’t promise this, but then again it would only make sense.

Expect some devices to begin receiving Nougat some time next month such as the Moto Z and G4, while others will likely have to wait until December and early 2017.
