We’ve been hearing lots about Google’s upcoming smartphones, and now we get to see them in the flesh for the very first time. Leaked images of what’s supposedly the upcoming Pixel 3 XL surfaced over on XDA Forums and showcases the device’s exterior design. Meanwhile, the standard Pixel 3 is nowhere to be seen.
In the images, we can clearly tell the Pixel 3 XL’s screen will stretch nearly from edge to edge. A notch at the top of the display will be present to house a speaker and other sensors. There’s also a relatively large chin at the bottom which will house another speaker for stereo separation. And as if we needed it, we also get confirmation there are both power and volume buttons on the right.
As for the back, the 3 XL looks pretty similar to last year’s Pixel 2 XL. It’s got that familiar glass shade at the top with a single camera and LED flash, while the rest appears to be made of aluminum.
However, if you zoom in close enough, you’ll notice both design touches meet seamlessly with glossy edges surrounding the device. This suggests the phone might be covered in either a glossy finish or glass like many modern flagship phones, but it’s still a bit to make any assumptions. And considering these are sketchy leaks, anything could change before the phones are even announced.
It’s also worth noting the error screen that’s shown on the supposed prototype Pixel 3 XL indicates the device comes with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. No processor name or other specs are shown, but we at least know Google will be sticking with tradition by offering these two key specs that have been around since the first Pixel in 2016.
The company’s expected to unveil the new Pixels this October at an event so stay tuned as I’m sure we’ll have plenty more to share over the summer.
