Google has begun selling the newly announced Acer Chromebook 11 and 14 on their online store, so now when you’re looking to pick up a Chromebook right from Google, you won’t have to fork over $1,000 for a Chromebook Pixel. In fact, these new laptops are really cheap, coming in at $179.99 and $2.99 respectively.
So what do you get for $179.99? Well, you get an 11.6-inch display with a resolution of 1136×768, a dual-core 2.16GHz Intel Celeron N2840 processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, and a 9 hour battery. This is clearly not the most powerful computer on the planet, however for under $200 and the fact that this laptop runs Chrome OS, what more can you expect to get a decent experience?
Now, I’m sure you’re wondering, “What do I get for $299.99?” Well, you get a super rugged body which can withstand drops up to 4 feet and prevent water damage, a 14-inch display with a full HD 1920×1080 resolution, a quad-core 1.6GHz Intel Celeron processor, 4GB of RAM, 32GB of SSD storage, and a 12 hour battery. So, for an extra $120 over the Chromebook 11, you’re really getting more bang for your buck.
