Google has begun rolling out version 5.5 of the Google News app to Android users that adds a single, standout feature: a dark mode. Located in the Settings section of the app, you can enable the dark mode to always appear when you use the app which darkens the interface for a less in-your-face experience. You can also have the mode switch on automatically when night falls or when you turn on battery saver.
Right now, the update to Google News is rolling out to all Android users over the Play Store for free. So far, we haven’t spotted the same update for iOS, but we’ll let you know when/if the update ships.
