Alongside the release of the third Android P beta, Google today began rolling out the July 2018 security patch for Android devices. Those with a Pixel, Pixel 2, Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X, or Pixel C will get the updated patch today, while those with devices from other OEMs can expect it in the coming weeks.
According to Google’s security bulletin, 43 issues have been resolved between two patches labeled 2018-07-01 and 2018-07-05. As is the case with many of these patches, the most critical fixes involve Android’s media framework where remote hackers could access your device without you even knowing. In addition, Pixel phones are also getting improved Wi-Fi connectivity with certain routers that, previously, were riddled with bugs.
