Google Formally Launches Wallpapers App on the Play Store

Google today has launched another new app on the Play Store. This one’s called Wallpapers, and it’s the same app we’ve had access to thanks to the leaked Pixel Launcher. The description of the app tells us that Google’s goal is to “make the most of your display with beautiful wallpapers and advanced features.”

Make the most of your display with beautiful wallpapers and advanced features. Choose one of your own photos, an image from the Google Earth collection, a scenic landscape from Google+, and more. Change it as often as you like, so your phone always represents your style.

Enjoy a collection that keeps on growing. Access images from Google Earth, Google+, and other partners.
Double your fun. Show the world one wallpaper on your lock screen, and keep one for yourself on your home screen. (Requires Android™ 7.0, Nougat, and above.)
Start each day fresh. Pick your favorite category and you’ll get a new wallpaper image each day.

As you can see in the screenshots above, all of the Pixel phone’s wallpapers are present in Wallpapers alongside the cloud-based ones previously provided by Google. Some features within the app like the ability to set one wallpaper for your lock screen and one for your home screen are only available on Android 7.0 Nougat and up, but this shouldn’t be a problem as I’m not sure how many people prefer their backgrounds in this manner.

It’s worth noting that there are some new wallpapers found in the mix, but other than that this is the same wallpaper collection leaked so long ago. It’s available for free in the Play Store for Android devices running v4.1 and up.
