A new leak from Venture Beat claims to have listed the specifications of Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S7 Active handset, a more rugged version of their 2016 flagship minus the curved screen. And so far, it looks like an ordinary Galaxy S7 in a military body…
For starters, the S7 Active is set to feature a Snapdragon 820 processor, 4GB of RAM, a 5.1-inch 2560×1440 AMOLED display, 32GB of expandable storage via microSD card, the same 12MP camera on the regular S7, and Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box. As you can see, pretty much every spec found in the S7 can be found in the Active. However, a difference between the S7 Active and regular S7 can be found in the battery department, with the Active storing a 4,000mAh cell inside it’s body, while the regular S7 features a 3,000mAh battery. 1,000mAh is a pretty big difference, especially when it comes to day-to-day performance. Right now, users are able to get through a full day with their S7 with moderate use on a 100% full battery. With a bigger battery, users may be able to get through a full two days on their phones. Of course I can’t really see someone actually switching from their new S7 to the Active variant just for the sake of a bigger battery, however I thought it was worth noting.
The S7 Active is also rumored to weigh 30 more grams than the regular S7 alongside be 2mm thicker. This is understandable since you need a thicker case for better protection and more room to store a bigger battery.
Colors for the S7 Active are supposedly going to be a simply black or gold, however no camo pattern like previous Active smartphones.
