Google is currently holding a promotion in an effort to bring more users over to their recently launched Play Family Library feature which allows up to six people to share purchases across accounts with each other. To make the deal look sweeter, the company is offering users 50% off any movie purchase from the Play Store, so it’s a pretty good time to buy that movie you saw that time with that guy/gal at that theater you think you liked.
One of the downsides to this promotion, however, is the fact that only invitees to a Family Library can take advantage of it. So in other words, people you invite to your family will be offered the discount. In addition, only Gmail account holders will be given the promotion. Why Google thought this was better than offering all Family Library members the same discount regardless whether they were invited, started the whole thing, or have something like an Outlook.com email address is beyond me, but for now that’s how the situation stands.
You’ll have until August 31st to take advantage of this promotion which, by the way, is 10 days including today. The 50% discount is good on any movie for sale through the Play Store, while a special link will be sent to your email with instructions on how to redeem the offer.
