So you’re board with Android or iOS and you want a new experience on your mobile phone. What do you do? Well, you can always download a new launcher and set it as your Home screen for a fresh look, but that’s only on Android and they get kinda boring sometimes. And hey, if you’re on iOS, you can always rearrange your Home screen icons, but where’s the fun in that? Besides, that action has gotten stale thanks to Android.
So now you’re left with a boring ol’ smartphone that you don’t find smart any more. What is a guy/gal like you to do? Well, I have a solution! Try out Windows Phone!
Yes, yes, I know, either way you’re switching to “the other side”, but it’s okay. Microsoft is trying their hardest to bring over iOS and Android users to their platform, so why not give it a try? All you need is money and a Microsoft account to operate it. Where’s the harm in that?
Exactly.
If you’re still on board with me about switching over to Microsoft, you’re in luck, because I have a great starting point for anyone that wants that metro UI on their smartphone. Now there are lots of great choices out there, anything from the Lumia 950 to the LG Lancet, but the phone I recommend buying to get you into the Windows Phone ecosystem is the Nokia Lumia 635. It comes preinstalled with Windows Phone 8.1, Cortana, Microsoft’s personal assistant, all of Microsoft’s Office apps, and more.
Here are the specs of this budget handset:
- 4.5 inch FWVGA (854 x 480) display w/ IPS LCD panel and ClearBlack technology
- 1.2 Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor (quad-core)
- 8 GB of storage
- RAM: 512MB or 1GB (depending on carrier)
- Expandable storage via microSD card (up to 128GB)
- 1830mAh battery (removable)
- Bluetooth 4.0
- 5 MP rear camera w/ Auto and manual exposure, Auto and manual white balance, Automatic photo upload to web services, Full resolution photo and video upload, Full screen viewfinder, Geotagging, Landscape orientation, Touch focus, 720p HD video recording
- FM radio
As you can tell by these specs, this handset is meant for someone on a budget and wants to get into the Microsoft ecosystem.
So now you’re probably wondering, “How much is this thing gonna run me?” And I’m pleased to say it’ll only cost anywhere around $30! But at the time of writing this post (11:00AM EST), it’s just $26.99!
Normally, if you buy this phone off contract, it’ll cost like $200, which is way too high for a phone with these specs. However this phone isn’t unlocked and is on AT&T’s network, it’s still a great value!
It’s hard to tell when this phone will be at it’s lowest price, so we suggest picking one up right now due to the fact it’s just $26.
You can get the Nokia Lumia 635 right on Amazon for this crazy low price.
