Confirmed: J.A. Bayona Will Direct the “Jurassic World” Sequel

Last year, Jurassic World was released and quickly became one of the highest-grossing movies of all time, and now that we know there’s gonna be a sequel to the film, we need to know who’s gonna direct it. Now, that question’s been answered thanks to a tweet by Jurassic World writer-director Colin Trevorrow. In the tweet, Trevorrow confirms that J.A. Bayona will be taking the director’s chair to make the fifth Jurassic film possible.

Trevorrow is set to write the script with his partner Derek Connolly however won’t be present while shooting since he’ll be busy with the ninth installment in the ever-so-popular Star Wars series.

Besides The Impossible and the 2007 horror film The Orphanage, Bayona hasn’t really directed anything before. He does have one other film under his belt called A Monster Calls which has yet to be released, however what we’re looking at here in a nut shell is a newbie to the game of “directing” set to take on the sequel to a Jurassic film. That’s a pretty big challenge, is it not? I understand if he’s confident and thinks he knows what he’s doing behind the camera, however it’ll all ultimately come down to whether the film’s any good or not and whether he was sure he did a good job or thinks the movie came out horrible. Nonetheless, it’s gonna be interesting to see this guy direct Jurassic World 2, and if you agree, let me know in the comments.

Jurassic World 2, starring Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, is set for release on June 22nd, 2018.
