BlackBerry isn’t exactly having the best year in its history, what with the sub-par reviews of its Key2 handset circling the internet and encouraging folks not to buy the $649 device. Of course, this hasn’t discouraged BB in the slightest as its unveiled yet another new smartphone: the Key2 LE.
The LE probably stands for “lower edition” or something, but I have no idea. Regardless, it’s meant to indicate this is a lower-powered version of the “flagship” Key2 that launched earlier this year. It comes with the same 4.5-inch 1650×1080 display but opts for less-powerful specifications under the hood.
For instance, instead of a Snapdragon 660 processor, the Key2 LE comes with a Snapdragon 636. It also packs 4GB of RAM instead of 6GB, up to 64GB of storage, and a 3,000mAh battery instead of a 3,500mAh cell. In addition, the cameras have also significantly transitioned from a pair of 12MP shooters on the back to a 13MP main camera and 5MP secondary lens.
Other than these changes, the Key2 LE keeps the same physical QWERTY keyboard BlackBerry fans are accustomed to. The Key2 and LE also come with very similar designs, with the LE sporting some additional finishes such as Atomic and Champagne.
If you’re interested in picking up your own Key2 LE< you’ll be able to do so starting in September. The device starts at $399 for 32GB of storage and goes up to $449 for 64GB. It’ll be available in the United States, the UK, France, Germany, Canada, and UAE.
