Last year, Asus unveiled its first gaming phone, the ROG Phone. It debuted with some killer specs for the time, and now, the device has been refreshed for 2019 with even better internals.
The new ROG Phone II offers a similar motive: jam in the very best specs you can into a modern flagship smartphone, making it optimal for heavy tasks including gaming. That’s just what Asus did. Under the hood, this gadget ships with a Snapdragon 855 Plus processor, a massive 12GB of RAM, a gigantic 6,000mAh battery, and a 6.59-inch 1080p OLED display. That last part is especially interesting. Despite offering a relatively low resolution, it does include a 120Hz refresh rate, undoubtedly making it way smoother than most smartphones on the market.
That’s not all. The design of the ROG Phone II is pretty crazy, with angles and cutouts virtually everywhere around this beast of a handset. LED lights, orange accents, and an advanced cooling system round things off which will, to say the least, impress your friends quite a bit.
For software, the ROG Pro II ships with Android Pie. During setup, you can actually choose whether you want Asus’ UI or stock Android, which is pretty nifty. For cameras, the phone comes with a main 48MP rear sensor paired to a 13MP wide-angle lens. The selfie camera features a 24MP sensor.
Overall, the ROG Phone II will most likely be among the contenders for the award of “Most Overkill Specs Shoved into a Smartphone for 2019.” Asus didn’t provide a price or release date today, but that info should come soon.
