Apple’s Single Sign-On is Now Live for iOS and tvOS Users – Here’s What You Need to Know

Back in June at WWDC 2016, Apple introduced a new feature with tvOS 10 called Single Sign-On. This function allows you to sign into your cable subscription on either iOS or tvOS once and automatically be logged into each supported app you install on your system. We saw the feature go live in the latest betas of Apple’s next software versions, however not every member of the public has gained access to it yet. This changes today as the company has begun officially rolling the feature out to both iOS and tvOS users for use with various apps and cable services.

Currently, this is the full list of cable providers supported by Single Sign-On.

CenturyLink Prism
DirecTV
Dish
GVTC
GTA
Hawaiian Telcom
Hotwire
MetroCast
Sling

Interesting, some of the biggest cable providers such as Verizon FiOS and Comcast Xfinity aren’t supported at launch, an issue Apple will likely fix in the future. Luckily, those with satellite should be pretty much covered as the likes of Dish, DirecTV, and Sling are all here.

In addition, here’s a list of all the apps supported by the feature, with some supported exclusively on both iOS and tvOS.

Surely, more apps will gain access to Single Sign-On soon as it’s all up to the app developers to implement the feature. One major player will be CBS when they’re app is supported, but for now, they remain absent.
