Apple’s Beginning to Roll Out the TV App to tvOS Beta Testers

It’s been a little while coming, but today it appears that Apple has begun rolling out the TV app first debuted back in October to tvOS beta testers running a preview of the next OS upgrade for the Apple TV 4. Several users on Twitter and 9to5Mac tipsters have noticed the software mysteriously pop up on their streaming set-top-boxes without any manual update or steps needed.

Images of users’ TVs displaying the TV app can be found below.

In addition, it also appears that a new function is coming to the Siri remote packaged with the Apple TV. By going into settings, users are noticing that they’re able to change the function of the TV button to either bring users to the home screen or TV app by default. This may be useful if you’ll frequently be using the TV app to stream content, so it’s nice to see this feature present.

Pictures of this functionality can be found below.

At this time, it looks like both of these features are rolling out over the air, so it’s gonna be hit or miss for most users for the time being. If you want a chance at seeing the new app and functionality hit your Apple TV 4, be sure to update your software to tvOS 10.1 beta 3 as that’s the latest build of tvOS currently available.
