Apple’s expected to unveil its new line of iPhones for 2018 in exactly a week, and now, we’re hearing what the company might name one of its new devices. According to 9to5Mac, sources claim Apple plans to use the name “iPhone Xs Max” to market the 6.5-inch OLED phone, straying away from the previously used “Plus” moniker that was introduced back in 2014 with the iPhone 6 Plus.
If this report rules out to be true, it will mark a historic name and branding shift for Apple. Historically, the company’s gone with “Plus” as the way to distinguish between a smaller and larger iPhone. Now, for the 6.5-inch OLED model that will be announced next week, the company will transition over to the “Max” brand which, in all honesty, is a bit strange.
Usually, we see odd monikers like this with Android phones or cheaper devices to oversell an experience. Now, it looks like Apple’s will “maximize” the iPhone Xs’ screen and “maximize” the experience of using an iPhone.
