Good news for those of you who don’t want to spend $1,000 to get the latest and great smartphone from a certain Cupertino-based company.
According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of TF International Securities (via MacRumors), Apple may introduce lower price points for its entire 2018 iPhone lineup to attract customers and, hopefully, sell more smartphones. Last year saw a historic drop in phones sales after things stood still year over year, and this could be due to higher costs to consumers for popular devices. Therefore, Apple is apparently looking to regain some momentum and price their new devices accordingly to make them seem more appealing to buyers.
Specifically, the higher-end 6.5-inch OLED iPhone will reportedly cost between $900 and $1,000, while the smaller 5.8-inch OLED iPhone will cost somewhere between $800 and $900. Finally, the lower-end 6.1-inch LCD iPhone will cost between $600 and $700, therefore making it the most affordable way for customers to get an iPhone with an edge-to-edge screen, Face ID, and glass body.
While these predictions aren’t necessarily leaks or reports you could bank on, they are meaningful. Kuo has a long history of correctly predicting Apple’s ambitions and we could be seeing something similar here. Regardless, we’re still three months away from seeing the new iPhones so expect to hear a lot more about them over the summer.
