Apple Watch Series 2 Officially Launches Today

Following the release of the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, Apple today also launched their updated wearable they call the Apple Watch Series 2. So far, early reviewers think the new fitness features found in the updated Apple Watch are definitely on point, while waterproofing has been spectacularly updated with a very clever design to keep water from reaching any internals of the Watch, including the speaker.

New in the Apple Watch Series 2 is (like I said before) better waterproofing up to 50m which is capable of surviving while swimming, a brighter display than the previous generation (or ‘Series’, whatever you prefer) rated at 1000 nits, a dual-c0re S2 SoC for faster and smoother operation, an improved GPU, watchOS 3, a GPS, better Wi-Fi capabilities for when you don’t have your phone on you, and better battery life. There’s also a new Nike Plus model which includes additional fitness features alongside a sweet silicon band, however it’s not currently known when this model will launch.

The three tiers of the Apple Watch Series 2 are nearly identical to the previous Apple Watch, with the Sport being the cheapest with an aluminum case, the standard Watch being the mid-range and featuring a stainless steel case, and the Edition being the most cost-effective but including a new, ceramic case over the previous generation’s 24K gold case. Pricing for the new Watches starts at the following:

If you wanna get your hands on an Apple Watch 2, head over to Apple’s online store or stop by your local Apple retail store. In addition, Apple’s also launching a revamped version of the Apple Watch 1 they call the Series 1 which includes a new dual-core S1P chip which mimics the performance of the S2 chip found inside the Series 2. This Watch is available in an aluminum Sport case for $269 in a 38mm size and $299 in a 42mm size.
