American Airlines and Apple have announced a new partnership that will allow subscribers of Apple Music to stream music using the former’s in-flight Wi-Fi connection. You won’t have to pay any additional Wi-Fi fees in order to do so – you’ll be able to just connect to AA’s free Wi-Fi network and start listening. The perk is good only on domestic flights.
“Our customers want to make the most of their time when flying with us. That’s why we’re investing in high-speed Wi-Fi, the newest movies, live TV and now Apple Music,” said Janelle Anderson, Vice President of Global Marketing at American. “Providing customers with more ways to stay connected throughout each flight is one way to show we value their business and the time they spend with us.”
To use the feature, all you have to do is connect to whichever free Wi-Fi network you’d normally connect to in order to enjoy American’s complimentary in-flight entertainment. Then, log in with your Apple Music account on your device and start streaming. The aircraft you’re aboard must come with Viasat Wi-Fi, but that shouldn’t be a problem since AA says 570 of their planes already have the technology.
Apple Music can be streamed using American’s Wi-Fi on any device that supports the streaming service starting this Friday, February 1st.
