Amazon Unveils Slightly Updated Fire HD 8 Tablet for $79.99

Amazon has announced an upgraded version of its popular Fire HD 8 tablet, but there’s nothing ground-breaking in store. In fact, the only updates made were in the camera and voice departments. Otherwise, this is the same Fire HD 8 that came out last year.

Okay, let me be clear. The new Fire HD 8 includes an upgraded front-facing 2MP camera over last year’s VGA-quality sensor. Meanwhile, hands-free Amazon Alexa is also on board so you can yell at your tablet from across the room to get stuff done. Other than these two changes, you get the same 8-inch HD screen, 16GB of storage, 1.3GHz processor, 1.5GB of RAM, 10 hours of battery life, and microSD card slot.

Of course, this isn’t necessarily a bad thing, especially the tablet was still really good last year. Plus, the price is remaining the same at $79.99. It goes on sale October 4th
