Usually, to get access to Amazon’s Prime Video service, you either need to pay $10.99 a month or $99 a year for a Prime subscription, however that all changes today as the online retailer makes the service available as a standalone subscription for $8.99 a month. This puts Amazon in the same boat as other popular video streaming services such as Hulu and Netflix, a service which has recently announced a price increase by one dollar to $9.99 a month.
But don’t let the fact that Netflix will cost more soon affect your decision for which service you should subscribe to. If you just want to just watch movies and TV shows, I’d say go for Netflix or Hulu. I know Amazon’s service is lower in price, however for $2 more a month, you can subscribe to the online retailer’s Prime service which gives you free two-day shipping, unlimited access to Prime Music, Prime Video, and Kindle Unlimited, exclusive access to special discounts, and more. But if $10.99 is too much, consider the $99 a year option. That’s the equivalent of paying $8.25 a month. So honestly, why would you subscribe to just Prime Video when there’s a much better deal right-smack in your face?
I’m gonna take a wild guess and say that most people probably will subscribe to this service. Amazon will most likely market it like it’s a new thing and tell everyone that it’s cheaper than Netflix. But that’s why I’m telling you to just subscribe to Prime all together. You get way more bang for you buck, plus you get unlimited music streaming and e-book reading. At this point, does $8.99 a month for just video sound good to you? Not to me.
