At IFA 2018, Acer has unveiled pricing and availability information for its new Swift 5 laptop. According to the company, the device will start at $1,099 and launch in North America in January 2019. It’ll land in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and China in November.
The new Swift 5 is what Acer claims is the “world’s lightest 15-inch notebook.” It uses magnesium components in its design to allow for the laptop to weigh just 2.2 pounds and measure in at 15.9mm thin. As previously mentioned, there’s a 15-inch display on the front with a Full HD IPS panel. It features an 87.6 percent screen-to-body ratio to create a more immersive experience. The screen also features Acer’s BluelightSheld technology to reduce blue-light emissions at night and the company’s Color Intelligence technology to dynamically adjust gamma and saturation in real-time.
As for specs, we’re looking at up to an 8th-generation Intel Core i7 processor, up to 16GB of RAM, up to a 1TB SSD, an LED backlit keyboard, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, USB-C connectivity, up to 10 hours of battery life, Windows 10, and available 4G LTE connectivity. It also packs Dolby Audio for higher-quality sound out of the laptop’s speakers and a fingerprint reader for Windows Hello compatibility.
