Apple’s next keynote is only 4 days away, but that’s not stopping potential leakers from spreading more rumors about the products the Cupertino company is set to announce. And this new leak is no exception.
Earlier this week over on Chinese social media site Weibo, a poster has supposedly leaked the packaging the 4-inch iPhone SE will ship in. The box appears to confirm that the upcoming smaller handset from Apple will in fact come in a 16GB storage variant as well as feature NFC capabilities, specifically for Apple Pay. The package also seemingly assures us that the phone will indeed be called the iPhone SE.
Given that recent reports have confirmed the iPhone SE will come in 16GB as well as 64GB storage configurations makes this leak pretty legit. And since we’re only days away from Apple’s next announcement, it makes perfect sense for a leak of this nature to make it’s way to the internet.
There have also been numerous reports all over the place that the upcoming 4-inch iPhone SE will sport an NFC chip and be capable of making purchases using Apple Pay in brick-and-mortar retailers, so to see this type of information pop up on a most likely legitimate leak will assure the public that we’ll be paying with our 4-inch iPhones soon.
Something that’s odd (pointed out by 9to5Mac) about this upcoming iPhone launch is the lack of supply chain rumors and leaks. There have been practically none during this whole time we’ve been waiting for the iPhone SE to come out while iPhone 7 rumors are coming in regularly now. It’s said that the SE will sell in smaller volume than previous iPhone launches and will look nearly identical to the 5s, so this could be the reason why supply chain workers haven’t leaked anything for fear of a lousy reaction.
