Announcing the next phase of Wiretapped!
I've got some exciting news to share regarding the future of Wiretapped - read on!
It’s been two years since I launched Wiretapped. Before, I wanted it to focus on the news and stories I didn’t cover on Matridox during the week and provide some context and analysis into what the world of technology brought forth in the past five days. Since then, I’ve moved the newsletter from Mailchimp to Substack and have re-engineered how and when it’s published. Now, it’s time for Wiretapped to take on its full form by becoming a premium subscription.
Now, I know what you’re thinking. “Oh great, another subscription I have to pay money for each month!” This, to be perfectly honest, is true. I’m expanding my style of writing as a journalist and have been focusing on more long-form posts on Matridox like columns, editorials, and reviews. However, my reporter side needs an outlet, which is where you guys come in.
My open rates are pretty decent for a young newsletter, and it’s all thanks to you! You guys are the ones who take the time to read about the stories I highlight, why they’re important, and any additional analysis I include in each edition. It’s a lot of work publishing these newsletters, with a lot of research time and editing involved.
I’m an independent reporter, which means I don’t have the backing of a huge news organization to keep the lights on. That’s why I’m turning to you. With your support, I’ll be able to deliver high-quality reporting on the latest consumer technology news, help you understand why some stories are so important, and even share exclusive thoughts on upcoming products or devices I’m reviewing. Plus, you’ll get to chat with me directly if you have any questions or observations.
I strive to make each edition of Wiretapped a worth-while read, and I’m thrilled that so many of you read them! Beginning November 2nd, if you’d like to continue reading them, you’ll need to subscribe. To ensure as many as you can subscribe, I’m keeping the rates low at $5 a month. A year-long subscription will cost just $45 (which means you’ll get three months free right off the bat), and a founding subscription will cost $100 and get you lifetime access to the newsletter.
Editions of Wiretapped are sent out on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. The Sunday Edition will focus on long-form editorials and analysis, and I’ve got plenty of ideas to make it unique and interesting. Tuesdays and Fridays will be focused on covering the news and making everything from a smartphone launch to a court battle between corporations as easy to digest and comprehensible as possible.
I’m exited for where Wiretapped is heading! I have some incredible coverage plans for upcoming events that Wiretapped subscribers will exclusively be able to read, and I’m already working on some stories that I think you’ll really dig.
Until November 2nd, both free and premium subscribers will get every edition of Wiretapped. This will hopefully give you all time to hop on a subscription before it’s too late, and it’ll give you an idea of where your money will be going.
From the bottom of my heart, I’d like to thank all of you for reading my work and appreciating it as much as you do. I’ve heard from many of you over the past two years about what you like, what you don’t, and even what phone you should buy. :)
I’m excited to continue working hard for you, the readers, and to continue reporting the most important technology news of the week. I hope that you’ll all consider subscribing so you can keep getting these newsletters and help support me in the process.
And remember: stay in tech.
Cheers! - Max
