ASUS Unveils New ZenFone 3 Trio of Smartphones

ASUS has taken off the wraps of their latest flagship smartphones, the ZenFone 3/Deluxe/Ultra. Normally with manufacturers nowadays, two flagship handsets get announced with each having two different screen sizes to please everyone who may or may not want a bigger smartphone. However, ASUS has taken an interesting route and has revealed to the world three different smartphones, with one having a 5.5-inch display, one with a 5.7-inch display, and the last having an absolutely massive 6.8-inch display, respectively.

First up is the standard ZenFone 3, the lowest-end handset of the new 2016 family trio. This mid-range quality device features a 5.5-inch 1080p HD Super IPS+ LCD display placed within a notably compact body covered with 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass, a new octa-core Snapdragon 625 processor (the first of its kind with 14nm FinFET process technology, an integrated X9 LTE modem, and 802.11ac MU-MIMO Wi-Fi connectivity), 4GB of RAM, a 16MP rear camera with the company’s TriTech autofocus technology built-in, an 8MP front camera, a 3000mAh battery with a USB-C 2.0 port for charging via Quick Charge, a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, and an all-aluminum unibody which is the first to feature hidden antenna lines. All in all, this is a pretty great device which will definitely get you through everything you do on your smartphone.

Next up is it’s preceder, the ZenFone 3 Deluxe. Think of this handset simply as an upgraded ZenFone 3, which it’s supposed to be. It’s also ASUS’ main flagship for 2016. This device features a 5.7-inch 1080p HD Super AMOLED display also coated with Gorilla Glass, a Snapdragon 820 processor paired with an Adreno 530 GPU and a whopping 6GB of RAM, a 23MP Sony IMX318 rear-mounted camera sensor with an f/2.0 aperture, optical image stabilization (OIS), 4K video capture, and ASUS TriTech autofocus, the same 3000mAh battery as the standard ZenFone 3, a USB-C 3.0 port for charging via Quick Charge, a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, and an all-metal unibody which also shares the same hidden antenna lines which ASUS claims is a world first as well. This smartphone is very similar spec-wise to other flagship devices such as the Galaxy S7 and LG G5, however it does have some uniqueness to itself in order to distinguish itself, especially when it comes to its looks.

Last but not least is the ZenFone 3 Ultra, and this one’s a biggy. No seriously, it’s huge. This handset’s got a massive 6.8-inch 1080p HD display with an octa-core Snapdragon 652 processor paired with an Adreno 510 GPU, 4GB of RAM, the same 23MP camera as the ZenFone Deluxe, a huge 4600mAh battery, a USB-C 3.0 port for charging via Quick Charge, and a front-mounted fingerprint sensor to accommodate the size of the device. ASUS is marketing this phone as one perfect for media consumption, and the features of this phone are no exception to this statement, as the company has built-in a two five-magnet speakers, Hi-Res Audio support, and virtual 7.1 channel surround sound with DTS Headphone: X (a first, the company says) for watching movies, listening to music, and more. This smartphone may be a little too big for some people, however it may do good for some who like to consume plenty of media on their handsets, which is the main purpose of this handset.

The ZenFone 3, Deluxe, and Ultra will all retail in the US for $249, $499 and $479 respectively. It’s unclear just when they’ll be released, however we’ll let you know when that time comes.
