OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren Edition with 5G is Coming to T-Mobile

We don’t know exactly when or for how much, but it’s at least coming to the States.

OnePlus’ most recent phone, the OnePlus 7T Pro, was originally announced as a device that wouldn’t be coming to the United States. A special-edition McLaren-themed model was expected to do the same, but now, the John Legere-lead major US carrier T-Mobile has announced it will begin selling the McLaren Edition 7T Pro in the near future.

According to the Magenta carrier, the OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren Edition will be available on their network and work on both 4G and 5G connections. Previously, the 7T Pro was announced as only supporting 4G, but I guess T-Mobile has enough leverage over OnePlus to convince them to make a special 5G version for them.

This will be the second 5G phone to hit T-Mobile, the first one being the Samsung Galaxy S10 5G. Granted, buying 5G phones right now isn’t exactly a good idea since you won’t be able to take full advantage of their capabilities until late 2020, at which point plenty of better phones will have come out. Regardless, T-Mobile wants to flex its 5G muscles, and getting an exclusive McLaren-themed OnePlus phone is certainly a way to do that.

“5G is the most transformative technology of our lifetime – faster speeds, better coverage, real-time responses, more connections. It’ll dramatically change our mobile experience, fuel brand new experiences and drive billions in economic growth and jobs, but only if everyone can get access to broad, deep 5G,” said John Legere, CEO of T-Mobile. “At T-Mobile, we’re on a mission to bring 5G to everyone, and together with Sprint, the New T-Mobile can make sure that the entire country can benefit meaningfully from the future of wireless.”

We don’t know when the 7T Pro will come to T-Mobile or how much it’s gonna cost, but it’ll likely be priced at least around $750. For that, you get a 6.7-inch 90Hz AMOLED display, a Snapdragon 855 Plus processor, 8GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, a 4,085mAh battery, Warp Charge 30T, triple rear cameras, and a pretty sick design.
